About the group
"Jautrais pāris" was established in 1950, and since
then has performed at all Australian Latvian Arts Festivals
and Youth Festivals, many Folkloric festivals at the Sydney
Opera House, and countless concerts and events organised by
the Sydney Latvian community and the broader Baltic community.
In 1976, together with the Latvian folkdance group from Canberra,
"Sprigulītis", "Jautrais pāris" formed
the folkloric ensemble "Saules josta", which became
well known to Latvian communities around the globe through
its seven international tours and participation in two National
Song and Dance Festivals in Latvia.
The members of "Jautras pāris" range in age from
late teens to early thirties, and there are currently approximately
30 registered dancers, not all of whom attend rehersals regularly.
The group is lead by Juris Ruņģis and Iveta Ronis.
